As part of their first BS (Berufsakademie) studies three students are now working at LEWA, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and specializing in „Design and Development“. The dual studies program is being run in cooperation with the Berufsakademie Stuttgart (University of Cooperative Education at Stuttgart) at their Horb satellite campus. Each semester consists of a 2–3 month phase of full-time studies at the university followed by an internship phase at LEWA. Practical instruction is to tie in with the content of the theoretical phase so as to enhance and expand the syllabus in a highly practical manner. The three-year program concludes with an examination for the „Bachelor of Engineering“ degree.

In the future, LEWA will also train three individual BS students; the assessment tests are already being carried out.
