LEWA pumps for melamine production
The excellent product features, the many years of experience as well as the extensive know-how of the technical global market leader render LEWA a reliable partner for projects in the melamine production.
From many applications with high temperatures and high pressures at the same time LEWA can safely handle e. g. the melamine processes with PTFE Diaphragm Pump Heads up to 5.800 psig at 155°C and approx. 230 bar.
The complete heated diaphragm pump head from LEWA is particularly suitable for this application.
Pump head cover as well as process valves can be heated so that the melting temperature can be kept within the range specified. With appropriate pump heads urea, as an industrial raw material, can be conveyed as melt.
Urea is converted to melamine, ammonia and carbon dioxide (off-gas) either in a
- catalytic low pressure process or in a
- non-catalytic high pressure process.
Melamine resins are used, among others, for the following products:
- wood processing industry: coating of chip-, fibre- and laminated boards
- construction material industry: cement additives for concrete plasticizers, impregnating resins for laminate floorings, external wall tiles, window sills
- consumer goods industry: moulding compounds, which are processed into household articles or housings for electronic parts
- paper, textile, leather industry: auxiliary substances for paper and textile processing
- plastics processing industry: flame retardants for plastics foams
- automotive industry: enamel, tyre cord
