Hermetically tight
The diaphragm pumps are reliably tight and do not have any dynamic seals or packings. This assures a permanent, contamination-free and aseptic process area for the fluids to be pumped or metered. This tightness is guaranteed always also for long process runs.
Extremely safe
All LEWA diaphragm pumps for hygienic process engineering as a standard have a pressure controlled, integrated diaphragm monitoring system which reliably indicates diaphragm damages immediately. In case of diaphragm damage, e.g. due to wear, the operation of the pump can be continued up to the next conveniently scheduled diaphragm change due to the sandwich diaphragm. Interruption of the production is not necessary. Apart from the safety aspect this considerably reduces the operation costs.
Moreover diaphragm pumps are absolutely safe in dry operation, that means, if the discharge line is closed no excess pressure causing damages is created but the pump only circulates the hydraulic fluid via its own pressure limiting valve. Damages cannot not occur. If the pump is the only pressure producing machine a separate, sterile, often problematic pressure limiting valve is not necessary.
