Wangen Progressing Cavity KL Series Self-priming pumps
Flexible configurations for a wide range of food processes
The KL Series progressing cavity pumps are designed for food and beverage processes that demand gentle product handling and reliable operation. Their low - pulsation pumping protects texture, taste and consistency of viscous and sensitive media. Due to a modular design, the KL Series pumps are widely used for conveying viscous, sensitive and non - flowing products in the food and beverage industry, such as meat emulsions, dough, chocolate masses, dairy products, sauces and syrups. Multiple rotor and stator geometrics allow precisce adaption to specific process requirements.
The KL Series includes application - specific variants:
This versatility allows precise adaption to process requirements while ensuring reliable operation.
- KL-SL as a robust standard pump
- KL-RL hopper pumps for highly-viscous or non-flowing media
- KL-RF hopper pumps for plasticising blocks of fat or butter
- KL-TL immersions pumps for efficient tank emptying

Long Service Life
The Wangen™ Progressing Cavity KL Series pumps are designed for demanding processes where pumps are exposed to higher loads, abrasive products or challenging operating conditions. Their bearing housing relieves stress on the drive and shaft, helping to extend service life and ensure reliable operation over time. A direct-mounted drive with a service-friendly plug-in connection simplifies maintenance, while the self-centering design makes installation straightforward. The result is a robust, compact pump that combines durability with easy serviceability.

Key features and benefits
Increased uptime
Wangen Progressing Cavity KL Series Self-priming pumps are ideal for gentle, hygienic conveying of viscous media in food and beverage industry.
Low-pulsation, continuous product flow
The KL Series transports product in sealed cavities that move at constant speed through the pump. This true volumetric flow is independent of pressure, minimizing pulsation, shear and air entrainment ensuring stable dosing and gentle handling of sensitive food products.
Maintenance‑free mechanical seal, rotation‑independent
The mechanical seal design operates independently of the direction of rotation and requires no active adjustment. This reduces wear, prevents leakage during operation changes, and increases reliability. Especially important in hygienic food processes with frequent start‑stop cycles.
Heating or cooling options for temperature control
The KL Series can be equipped with heating or cooling jackets to control product temperature inside the pump. This prevents solidification, viscosity changes or overheating, ensuring stable flow and consistent product quality for temperature‑sensitive food media.
CIP‑ready hygienic pump design
Low‑dead‑space geometries and constant internal flow velocities enable effective Cleaning‑in‑Place without disassembly. CIP cycles reliably reach all product‑contact areas, reducing cleaning time, contamination risk and downtime in food and beverage production.
Robust design for long service life
Heavy‑duty bearing pedestals, proven cardan joints and wear‑resistant components ensure high operational reliability. This robust KL design minimizes maintenance frequency, reduces unplanned downtime and lowers total cost of ownership over long production cycles.
Modular KL platform for process adaptation
The consistent modular KL platform allows flexible selection of seals, materials, rotor‑stator geometries and drives. This enables precise adaptation to changing food processes and easy integration into existing production lines without redesign.
